It seems like this time of year rolls around and all the buzz is about dads and grads. But for Thankful Thursday, there is another group of people who we all need to take a moment to reflect upon and show our gratitude toward for another year of service.
I believe it’s safe to say that every person reading this has an immediate recollection of that one teacher who truly made a difference in their lives. From the moment you set foot in your first classroom to the moment you walked across the stage to receive your diploma, there was a cadre of teachers at every turn who guided you, nurtured you, disciplined you and oh yes, taught you.
Teaching is a complicated job – one of the few where individuality is essential. It takes constant enthusiasm, a caring attitude and a love for learning that translates to the student.
The best teachers have an expectation that all their students have the ability to succeed, and they take great personal satisfaction when they see that expectation fulfilled.
In your formative years, the teachers were the men and women whose talent, creativity, and whatever that special something is that makes a teacher teach played a large part in creating who you’ve become. A simple truth: if you’ve been successful in life, a good teacher helped get you there
There are thousands of teachers out there who year in and year out, put all their talent and energy in to creating amazing students. They’re the teachers we talk about at reunions. The tough ones. The fair ones. The teachers who wouldn’t give up on you, no matter what. The teachers who saw you as an individual and understood your potential.
The teachers who loved you as if you were can you buy nexium 40 mg over the counter their own child.
There are teachers who encourage creativity, who demonstrate unbelievable patience, who inspire future scientists, artists, politicians, business leaders, and bloggers who blog about girlfriends.
If you’re a parent, you know what I’m talking about. If you’re not a parent, I’m sure you still have a healthy appreciation for the teachers in your life.
So however you can, take a moment this week and show your gratitude to the women and men who have taken on the responsibility of creating a generation of youth who will accomplish great things.
What Teacher(s) are you thankful for? Who made a difference in your life or the lives of your children? How do you express your gratitude? (Do it!)
