We love celebrations at Girlfriendology. Sometimes we celebrate little things, but sometimes we get to celebrate big things. Today is one of the days for celebrating a big thing.
We are delighted announce that Girlfriend Guru Rachel Awes has published her new book (woo hoo!!!!!). For anyone who has found life events occasionally overwhelming and been grateful for girlfriends who understand, this story of her book launch is for you.
Last weekend I hosted a pre-order book and art party out of our home. My book “all i did was listen,” four years in the making, is finally ready to be published.
The people who came were generous with kindness, enthusiasm, and orders. The buzz in our living room was palpable.
The next morning my dear friend Annie came over. She wasn’t able to make it and wanted to pre-order a book and check out my other art for sale.
By the time she showed up at nine, I had already been up for six hours. So much to do. Printing and marketing and last edits on my book and, and, and… I realized my body was mildly shaking when I saw her. I shared this with her and I deeply appreciated her response.
Annie wanted to know what she could do for me. I didn’t know how to respond. The things on my list were things only I could do, or someone with very specific computer skills! She continued anyway. She said online order tramadol that she had an extra twenty minutes right then and could do my dishes. She said she would text me when she was on the way to Target or to get groceries and would ask me what I need…or how about laundry?
I haven’t taken her up yet on this, but her fierce presence calmed down my shaking.
I am grateful to have her in my life as both a friend and a beautiful role model.
XOX sending out love to all that’s in your piles and shaking and being, Rachel
