A wonderful ‘custom blend of women and wine’ took place last week on the ‘First Annual Wine Sisterhood Gathering.’ Thanks Wine Sisterhood for a great wine and women event!
The WINE SISTERHOOD is a wonderful group of women (and a few select Wine Misterhoods!) who create wonderful wines for women and created an online community where women can join the conversation about wine. (Join their over 100,000 Wine Sisterhood community on Facebook!) We’ve worked with them in the past since so many of us girlfriends enjoy a glass of wine with a friend – conversations just happen, and that’s a good thing!
Shown here are MARY ANN VANGRIN, TERRY WHEATLEY and NATALIE WASSUM (Co-founders of the Wine Sisterhood). LISTEN to our BlogTalkRadio interview with Mary Ann for more info into this great group of women and the fabulous Wine Sisterhood Gathering we shared in Napa last week! (For more info on their wines, check out the video below. And, check out this ‘pairing of books and wine‘ that Mary Ann share – great for your Book Club or just your favorite genre.)
I could never cover all of it, there was just too much packed into three days, so here’s the official agenda and some of the great speakers (revised with my comments, from the Wine Sisterhood’s site):
Sunday Evening: Welcome reception and Oscar Party. (So fun!) Voting and wonderful reception hosted by DIRTY BLONDE COCKTAILS. (Yummy premium champagne cocktails, available at Target, etc.! – and created by a wonderful woman, Kristen Raskopf. (The Wine Sisterhood Gathering introduced us to so many great women winery experts – like the Mutt Lynch Winery, created by girlfriend Brenda and several more – all fabulous!)
Monday morning: ZUMBA! We had a blast both mornings exercising with our #WineSister girlfriends (and one Wine Misterhood, Tim was fun!). We were welcomed by Wine Sisterhood Founder, Terry Wheatley. Then we had a great social media session with girlfriend Web pioneer and digital diva ALIZA SHERMAN.
Then came one of my favorite surprises – hearing wine corks popping at 10:48 a.m.! We all smiled as we got a GREAT wine tasting lesson from the FABULOUS Wine expert, author and head Thirsty Girl LESLIE SBROCCO. She started the run with some hand/arm warm ups for our tasting so we were ready for a hilarious lesson on tasting wine.
Other great women presenting and sharing their wine insights: The Wine Sisterhood’s own Wine Sisterhood Personal Sommelier (and wine director at Acme Fine Wines) Erin Sullivan. Christine Trice, creator of OMG I So Need a Glass of Wine or I’m Gonna Sell My Kids and founder of Brown Bag Botanicals. Bottlenotes founder Alyssa Rapp (creator of The Daily Sip and The Daily Pint). Spit Bucket co-founder and President Jen Amis. Digital Media Entrepreneur and Lifestyle Expert Sonia Hunt.
Monday and Tuesday lunches: We split up into two groups. Ours headed to the fabulous Bottega Restaurante in Yountville (celebrity chef Michael Chiarello); and the other went to Kitchen Door located in the charming Oxbow Public Market in Napa. (On Tuesday we switched to the other restaurant.) We enjoyed lovely family-style lunches, and of course, some delicious wine.
Afternoons: The Kitchen Door crew headed over to Conn Creek Vineyards for an amazing Napa Valley Appellation and Wine Blending Seminar. We got to put our own wine blend together – it was a great experience to create our own blend. (In Girlfriendology style, my was appropriately named “Gerbera Blend” and was a blast to create! THANKS CONN CREEK!)
The Bottega babes will be whisked to Swanson Vineyards, where we had a private, guided tasting of the wines and the beautiful ambience of one of Napa’s most elegant tasting salons with the vintner ALEXIS SWANSON.
Monday dinner: at the Black Stallion Winery with family member Cheryl Indelicato. Cheryl introduced us to her newly released, female-focused wine called Handcraft which will be coming soon to wine shelves near you. Definitely one of my top five meals of all time! The Wine Sisterhood Gathering experienced an amazing Lobster Feed at Black Stallion Winery with family member Cheryl Indelicato. (The Napa Fire Dept. does this as a fund raiser – they boil potatoes, corn, artichoke, garlic, shrimps and tons of lobsters then poured it on the table for us to eat, with great bread and melted butter, with our hands! It was nothing short of FABULOUS!
Tuesday Late Afternoon: The groups joined up together at the Round Pond Estate for a private wine and olive oil tasting.
Tuesday farewell dinner: We all headed up to St. Helena to Farmstead Restaurant where Chef Steven Barber prepared a southern-inspired, Napa Valley-style, farm-to-table meal just for us. Then we sadly said our good-byes with all the amazing new friends we’d met and just basked in our happiness of being included in the First Annual Wine Sisterhood Gathering!
HUGE THANKS to the Wine Sisterhood for this amazing event that brought women from the world of wine and social media together!
We had wonderful wines and conversations. You were right, Wine Sisterhood – it was a custom blend of women and wine, and we have so many friendships and happy memories to enjoy from your First Annual Wine Sisterhood Gathering!
