Friendship Wordless WEdnesday Joanne and girlfriendsHey girlfriend, are you part of a girlfriend group? In celebration of International Women’s Friendship Month (aka: #FriendshipMonth), guest blogger Lynne Gasior tells about her very special gals, the Cabin Chicks.

I am blessed to be part of a girlfriend group.

We call ourselves the Cabin Chicks because every spring we rent a cabin in Pymatuning State Park, Jamestown, PA. We have been doing this for over 15 years! We consist of sisters, cousins, and friends. There are nine of us in our group but when we started out there were only three of us. We’ve had as little as two at our cabin weekend and up to as many as nine! We have “chick” t-shirts, “chick” jewelry, “chick” knick-knacks, anything chick!! We have so much fun when we get together and everyone looks forward to our weekend at the cabin.

Girlfriends Mean So Much To Me

The time that I can remember that my girlfriends has been there for me that meant a lot to me was 11 years ago when I was diagnosed with cancer. They were so concerned and always asked how I felt and offered to help me with anything I needed. It meant so much to me to know that I had so many friends/family that I could depend on!! They were there for me through the six months of chemo!

I guess the best advice any of them ever gave me was to not worry so much. I’ve tried to take that advice but unfortunately, I still worry. I guess I was born with a worrying gene!! Just can’t shake it no matter what.

Cabin Chick Traditions

One of the traditions that we HAVE to follow is that anytime we get together, we have to wear one of our “chick” shirts. Anytime we go out as a group with our shirts on, we get lots of stares and people asking us if we are a group like the Red Hatters. While we are at the cabin, we wear a “chick” shirt everyday and we wear all our chick pins, necklaces, bracelets, earrings, and anything else we have that is chicks—we really stand out in a crowd then!!

While at the cabin, there are two stops we have to make. In Andover OH, there is a pizza shop called The Covered buy diovan without a prescription Bridge Pizza and that is one of our favorite places to eat. The building is actually a part of a real covered bridge and it has THE best pizza!

We also have to make a stop at a little shop in Jamestown, PA called Jamestown Soapworks. The lady that owns it makes her own soaps and lotions and sprays and other things! It is a wonderful little shop and we can spend a long time there.

My name is Lynne Gasior and I have lived in Struthers, OH my entire life (56 years). I’m a divorced mother of one. My son and daughter-in-law are my pride and joy, and I can’t wait to someday be a grandma! My mother, my sister and her family, and my son and daughter-in-law all live in Struthers–it’s wonderful to be so close to my family! Family and friends are very important to me and I am big on traditions, especially holiday traditions.
