What if we all told others what we knew? What would happen if we graciously shared our women’s wisdom?
That’s the basis of our thinking in launching and publishing the Girlfriendology Guides* – online content (eBooks, audio books, webinars) that tells what one woman knows to any other women who also could benefit – basically sharing ‘women’s wisdom.’ (And personally, I love that! That’s what girlfriends do – we share what we know in hope that it will make a friend’s life better, or even benefit a perfect stranger – because we’re all girlfriends really, we just may have not met yet!
Well, in the spirit of sharing what I know with other women, I’ve been doing a lot of speaking on online communities and social media. I love the lessons I learn from others who share their experiences, who together ask and answer questions, and who reach out to each other to help us meet our goals and reach our dreams.
In the spirit of the Girlfriendology Guides, I’ll be sharing the lessons I’ve learned on building and managing an online community, as well as lessons learned by fellow bloggers/community managers in an upcoming eBook on just that – building, growing and managing online communities. The plan is to publish by the end of May and to keep updated on that, please sign up for weekly newsletter.
I spoke this past weekend at the ‘Digital Media for a Social World‘ conference at The Ohio State University. (If you live in Ohio, you know that it HAS to have ‘The’ before it!) It was a great event with wonderful presenters and amazing attendees. I spoke on ‘Building your Brand/Business with Social Media.’ Being the first time that I was part of this event, I wasn’t sure if the attendees buy tramadol on line would be newbies to the world of social media or seasoned professionals at blogging, Facebooking, Tweeting, etc. It turned out to be a bit of a range of experience so my talk had to share something of value for all levels. I had a great response (thanks to the great attendees, including my girlfriend and social media maven Tiffany Odutoye) and a good turnout especially for being the first session on a Saturday!
Below is my ‘talk.’ To be completely honest, I’m a bit embarrassed to share it. It seems I say UMMM much, MUCH more than I thought. (I ‘blame’ it on the late night girlfriend party the night before and getting up at 5:30am to drive to Columbus!) But nonetheless, I’m hoping you (aka: my girlfriends) overlook that and possibly get some insights that could help you with your blog, brand or business. And, if you’d like to share your insights into building your online community, I’d love to feature you as a case study in upcoming speaking gigs and the ‘Building Online Communities’ eBook – just take this community manager survey.
By the way, I’m speaking at two social media conferences this summer: Type-A Parent Conference, Asheville NC, June 23-25; and Bloggy Conference, Mason OH – July 13-15. Plus, I’ll be speaking on female friendship at the Indiana Women’s Conference – September 16/17. I’d love to meet you at one of these great gatherings of bloggers, social media mavens and wonderful women!
